How the Situation Room works

A plain-language guide for public viewers, polling unit desk officers, ward and LGA coordinators, and the state command — covering who can report, how results are checked and how approval works.

In one minute

Desk officers file results from their polling unit. Ward and LGA coordinators verify what comes from their area. The super admin gives final approval. Approved results — and only approved results — appear on the public dashboard that anyone in the world can open.

For the public

Anyone can open the Situation Room dashboard — no account is needed.

  1. 1Open /situation-room to see live totals, LGA progress, party tallies and the results feed.
  2. 2Pick an election at the top of the page to switch between the Presidential/National Assembly and Governorship/State Assembly contests.
  3. 3Only results approved by the state command appear publicly, so what you see is verified data.
  4. 4The accredited officer directory shows the name, role, LGA, ward and polling unit of every officer covering the field.
  5. 5Official notices from the state command appear on the dashboard as they are published.

For polling unit desk officers

You report results for your own polling unit only.

  1. 1Sign in with your phone number (your phone number is also your first password — change it after first sign-in).
  2. 2Go to Situation Room → Console → File report.
  3. 3Choose the election, confirm your polling unit, then enter accredited voters, valid votes, rejected votes and each party's score.
  4. 4Attach a clear photo of the result sheet (Form EC8A). Reports without evidence are flagged automatically.
  5. 5No network? Tap Save draft — the report is stored on your phone and sent when you are back online.
  6. 6Report anything suspicious under Incidents with a category, severity and photo evidence.

For ward and LGA coordinators

You supervise and verify everything inside your own ward or local government.

  1. 1Console → My desk shows your coverage, how many units have reported and which are still missing.
  2. 2Console → Verification lists the reports from your area awaiting checking. Verify a clean report or return it with a note.
  3. 3You can file a report on behalf of a unit inside your area when a desk officer cannot.
  4. 4Analytics and the Live map show ward-by-ward reporting progress in real time.
  5. 5Push reminders to your officers through Comms.

For the super admin / state command

Final approval sits with the state command — nothing becomes public without it.

  1. 1Console → Submissions shows every report statewide with its flags and evidence.
  2. 2Approve a report to publish it to the public dashboard; approval locks the record from further edits.
  3. 3Console → Officers assigns or disables situation-room roles; Admin → Register all office holders opens accounts and grants access in bulk.
  4. 4Console → Elections creates or opens/closes an election.
  5. 5Console → Audit log records every insert, edit, verification and approval with who did it and when.
  6. 6Console → Reports exports the full dataset to CSV for the campaign records.

Rules enforced by the system

  • Desk officers can only submit for their assigned polling unit.
  • Ward coordinators act only inside their ward; LGA coordinators only inside their LGA.
  • Every report is checked automatically for missing evidence, arithmetic errors, votes exceeding accreditation and duplicate polling units.
  • Only the super admin can approve a result, and only approved results are shown publicly.
  • Approved results are locked; any change afterwards is recorded in the audit log.

These are database-level rules, not just interface restrictions — an officer cannot report outside their office even from another device.
